As the case of Michael Brown continues, we have recently seen that the National Guard was brought into Ferguson to supposedly, help “calm” things in the town.
Yet, according to CNN host Don Lemon, who has spent several days reporting from Ferguson; said on Tuesday that a member of the National Guard had called protestors the n-word.
As CNN aired a town hall event about the racial divide in the United States, a member of the audience asked what precautions could be used to prevent officers from overreacting when dealing with African-American men.
The Black Sphere’s Kevin Jackson said that putting body cameras on officers can change the dynamic in police stops.
“If there is a camera, he knows he’s got to check himself, and if you know an officer has a camera, you also have to check yourself,” explained Jackson.
Lemon then added that cameras could also make a “certain type of person” think twice before they decide to go into law enforcement to begin with.
“Last night, one of my producers said that they came in contact with one of the members of the National Guard. And they said, ‘You want to get out of here because you’re white. Because there n-words, you know, you never know what they’re going to do,’” Said Lemon.
The CNN host added that this was a true story, “I kid you not. 2014, a member of the National Guard, and my producer doesn’t lie,” he added.
What is your opinion on this? Should the member of the National Guard be punished in some way for using racial slurs? Or is it his Freedom of Speech to say exactly how he feels about the situation? Let us know what you think.
For the first time, the Highway Patrol captain in charge of security in raging Ferguson, Missouri; is backed by the National Guard. On Monday, they vowed that burglars and vandals would not disrupt “the soul of this community.”
The pledge was made by Capt. Ron Johnson, one day after the worst events yet happened between police and protestors who are protesting the police shooting death of unarmed African-American teenager Michael Brown.
“Tonight, we will ensure the safety of the citizens of Ferguson, the visitors to Ferguson, the business of Ferguson,” Capt. Ron Johnson stated. “We will not allow vandals, criminal elements, to impact the safety and security of this community.”
Gov. Jay Nixon ordered the National Guard to provide additional security to the town. Later the governor added that the National Guard’s mission is limited to protecting the officers already in place.
Nixon also added that the midnight-to-five a.m. curfew would be lifted. The governor added that police and protestors fought both nights that the curfew was in place. This fighting turned into robbery, vandalism and an attempt to take over the law enforcement command center and law enforcement officers were also targeted by gunfire.

An unarmed teenager, Michael Brown was shot by a police officer in St. Louis, Missouri four days ago. As tension continues to run high, the Brown family awaits the result of the investigation.
The 18-year-old from Ferguson, was shot and killed by a police officer on August 9th, 2014; as he was walking to visit his grandmother. Brown was unarmed at the time.
St. Louis County Police Chief, Jon Belmar, said there was a physical confrontation between Brown, the police officer and Brown’s friend Dorian Johnson. They claim that Brown had pushed the officer into his squad car and that he attempted to grab his gun, before the shots were fired. The officer has been working for the Ferguson Police Department for six years.
According to Johnson, he and Brown were walking in the middle of the street when the police officer pulled up and demanded that they get on the sidewalk. He also added that there was a verbal confrontation, as the young men turned to flee the scene; the police officer began to shoot his gun.
The men began running as they heard the shots, once Brown felt the second shot he turned around and put his hands in the air as he began to get down, the officer approached and fired several more shots.
According to the police station, the officer is on administrative paid leave. What is your opinion about this case? Should the officer be convicted or not?
As heard in the past, Kanye West refers to himself as a creative genius. According to GQ magazine, West’s album; My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy -released in 2010- was named the best album of the 21st century. In the article, this is rationalized by the impact that the project has had; it also explains how powerful all of West’s projects have been.
“It could’ve been any one of the seven albums West released this century,” GQ says. “A portrait of a man seizing the spotlight, drowning in it, and then somehow finding a way to turn that harrowing experience into art. Anybody who wants to be famous or make music for a living—or do both at the same time—should be forced to listen to MBDTF first. The rest of us are free to enjoy it for the bloody, hard-won, titanic achievement that it is.”
In 2010, the album was reviewed by HipHopDX’s Editor-In-Chief at the time, Jake Paine; where it earned a 4.5 out of a 5.
“From nine-minute douchebag manifestos, to enlisting an A-list Grammy ensemble to piece-mealing his album out to the masses every Friday. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy defies logic and it ignores convention. Whether it’s acknowledging his mistakes, measuring his might, or fantasizing of wifing Kristina Rose, Kanye West finds a way to relate to all. He’s not forcing his hand, just reminding us that the biggest star we appointed in the last five years can still recognize our own fantasies, insecurities and desire for colorful music from his spaceship,” Paine wrote.
What is your opinion? Do you believe that My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy deserves the tittle of best album?
