As rap star Drake made comments about NBA MVP Kevin Durant during his OVO Fest last weekend, the Toronto Raptors have been fined $25,000 for being in violation of anti-tampering rules.
As the official global ambassador for the Raptors, Drake asked the crowd at the concert how they would react if Durant- who is set to become a free agent in 2016- were to play for Toronto. Durant was in town for the concert weekend.
An NBA executive claims in an ESPN report that Durant was a target of what the league calls a public recruiting pitch by the rapper.
“My brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us,” Drake said to his fans. “I just want him to see what would happen if he were to come play in Toronto.” The fans went crazy and responded with a thundering “K-D!” chant.
The Raptors, Washington Wizards, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers are considered contenders for Durant.
Do you think it was right for the Raptors to be fined? Or should Drake be the one to pay?
