At approxmately 10:40 last night 3/15 (Pacific Time) Long Beach hook crooner Nate Dogg was pronounced dead at the age of 41.
Nate had suffered several strokes over the last 3 years, most recently as last year he was having even more health issues, but on March 15th it all caught up to him and he unfortunately could not make a full recovery.
Nate Dogg, born Nathaniel Hale was famous for legendary hooks on classics like Snoop Doggs "Ain't No Fun" Dr. Dre's "Next Episode" and of course Warren G's "Regulators" and a ton of other hip hop and R&B records over the last 18 years. Originally a member of 2-1-3 a group formed with childhood friends Snoop Dogg, and Warren G....many artists called on Nate Dogg to lace their record with his soulful sound that was like no other.
As Mack 10 said once "It Ain't a Hit unless Nate Dogg spit" Nate Dogg will be missed by peers in the industry as well as the fans and his family. Keep it on U92 to hear all the Nate Dogg Classics and more info on his death as we get it! R.I.P Nate Dogg
By now I'm sure you've heard the new song from Dr. Dre "Kush" which features Snoop Dogg and Akon, from the loooooooong awaited "Detox" album. The song hit the internet Monday night, and got immediate response from fans and radio. According to Dre the song was a leak and was not the "planned" first single for the new album.
From Allhiphop.com:
“It's a little bit unfortunate with the technology today. ["Kush"] got leaked and it was a version of it that I really wasn't happy about," Dre. said, "[but] we're going to go ahead and push it and put it out because everybody seems to like it. I just thought the content, it's about weed smoking, and I don't want people to think that that's what my album is about. This is actually the only song with that type of content."
Giving the fans what they want, Dre and Snoop are already shooting the video for the song, according to Dre, the project is about half done and he is aiming for a February 2011 realease date for "Detox".
On another note...When did Dre get so buffed up? lol
Wow... what a show! Summer Jam 2010 was - as stated by many local publications - arguably the biggest hop hop event ever to hit Salt Lake City. First of all, a special thanks to everyone who came to the show. We do apologize to the many people that could not get in since the show completely sold out early.
Together on one stage - Snoop Dogg & Ice Cube along with WC, YG, Bobby Brackens, and Cali Swag District.
Take a look at all the pics we have up from the event. We will be adding more pics and video in the coming days.
Summerjam 2010 is almost here and there are a few things you need to know about this concert. First, it is a VERY EARLY SHOW. The gates open at 5:00pm with the first act on stage at 6:00pm. The show will be finished by 10:00pm. Snoop has a long set. I caution anyone thinking they will be fine by arriving at 7:00pm or later! You do not want to be later than 7:00pm on this show!!!!! UTA Trax is located on Main Street and has a stop at the Gallivan Center. I suggest using Trax to get to and from the Gallivan Center on Wednesday night. Parking will be difficult as there are other events happening downtown at the same time.
Second, you will have to go through security to enter the Gallivan Center. Security will be conducting full pat downs and bag searches to ensure the safety of our listeners and guests at Summerjam. We understand this may seem like an inconvenience when entering the venue, but we would like to assure you that this is for everyone's safety.
A lot of people have asked about the set up due to construction at the Gallivan Center. The stage will be placed on Gallivan Avenue by the Wells Fargo building. We expect this to be a very unique experience for all those attending due to the limited amount of tickets available. We are hoping to provide you with one of the biggest Hip Hop concerts to ever hit Salt Lake City, and give you great views while you are there. You will have better views and closer views of the artists because of the limitations in size.
U92 is hosting the Official Summerjam After Party after the show at The Depot. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at The Depot box office. VIP tables are available as well, and can be purchased through The Depot.
Tickets are going fast and we can only accommodate 5,000 people. Tickets will be available for purchase at the gates at the Gallivan Center if they are not sold out. Tickets will be available for $25. Can't wait to see you there! This will be one EPIC concert.
