And as Dr. Dre prepares to celebrate his 46th birthday and almost 30-years in the music business, Dr. Dre is ready to slow down. “The only part that has been pushing me back is just the fact that I’m getting older, and certain things to talk about," Dr. Dre told XXL Magazine. "I can incorporate other artists, new artists with this record [Detox], to say some of the things I won’t say. It’s been a little tussle in that area also, just because of age and being able to identify with the younger audience.”
In the interview, Dre revealed that although he would continue to work with new talent, Detox will indeed be has final full-length album. "As far as me going into the mic booth, that s**t is over," Dr. Dre revealed. "I’m always going to talent scout and try to find new artists to work with. But, yeah, that’s it. I don’t see myself doing it the way I’m doing it now…"
By now I'm sure you've heard the new song from Dr. Dre "Kush" which features Snoop Dogg and Akon, from the loooooooong awaited "Detox" album. The song hit the internet Monday night, and got immediate response from fans and radio. According to Dre the song was a leak and was not the "planned" first single for the new album.
“It's a little bit unfortunate with the technology today. ["Kush"] got leaked and it was a version of it that I really wasn't happy about," Dre. said, "[but] we're going to go ahead and push it and put it out because everybody seems to like it. I just thought the content, it's about weed smoking, and I don't want people to think that that's what my album is about. This is actually the only song with that type of content."
Giving the fans what they want, Dre and Snoop are already shooting the video for the song, according to Dre, the project is about half done and he is aiming for a February 2011 realease date for "Detox".
